About the OSSS

The Ottawa Short Story Salon is a private group for readers who value craft, insight, and the precision of the short story form. Each month we meet in person to discuss a single work—chosen from authors ranging from early masters of the form (such as Poe, Hawthorne, and Gogol), to contemporary greats (like George Saunders, Murakami, and Sally Rooney).

The salon brings together people who treat literature as a serious pleasure: a meeting point for style, intellect, and conversation. We read attentively, speak candidly, and hold to the idea that the short story remains one of the most disciplined and revealing forms of art.

Attendance is limited to maintain the character of the group. New members are welcomed by invitation or request; feel free to hit the subscribe button or reach out via email.
